Volunteer Positions
Site Set Up & Tear Down
Site volunteers set-up (and take-down) stages, signs, banners, fencing, and more. They deliver garbage cans, tables, chairs and totes. They support the technical crew with deliveries and set up. A reasonable level of physical fitness, and a willingness to work full days, are helpful assets. Availability before and/or after the festival is required.
Family Zone – Children’s Area
Children’s Area volunteers use their creativity and energy to plan and support child and family-centered activities at our Children’s Area Activity Tent. It is the job of this crew to make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.
Security
Gate Security volunteers direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and check wristbands, accreditation badges, vehicle passes, and bags (when required).
Site (Roaming) Security volunteers patrol the Festival and adjacent Campground/Campfire area to support the safety and security of Festival participants. It’s a great way to meet folks while being surrounded by great music.
Stage Hosts
Our volunteer stage hosts serve as emcees for our workshop stages and main Festival Stage performances. Stage hosts must be comfortable speaking in front of crowds, engaging audiences and presenting written material such as the program book, performer bios and festival sponsor list during breaks between acts.
Instrument Lock-up
Instrument Lock-up volunteers oversee and ensure secure storage of performers' instruments in the backstage area. Attention to detail, using care to move equipment, and excellent people skills are important in this role.
Festival Pub
Festival Pub volunteers must be 19 years of age or older and be able to work in a busy environment selling liquor tickets, serving alcohol, being assertive in refusing sale of alcohol, monitoring patrons and, when necessary, reminding them to follow the rules. SmartServe certification is a helpful asset.
Green Team
Green Team volunteers make sure that the festival site remains clean, green and beautiful. They pick up garbage and recycling; do some sorting, cleaning, and urgent restocking of hygiene items. Green Team volunteers work in pairs and need to be comfortable roaming on 4 hour shifts, and lifting garbage bags. Be the master of the Lean Mean Green Machine and drive the bicycle and trailer!
Schlepping
Our Schleppers transport instruments, supplies and passengers on the site using golf carts and small vehicles. A valid driver's license is mandatory. Volunteers need to have adequate endurance and strength to lift items, and good problem solving skills to ensure items and people are delivered on time.
Main Gate
Main Gate volunteers sell festival passes, camping passes, and festival program books; redeem passes for appropriate wristbands; and facilitate camper registration. Main Gate volunteers need to have good customer service skills, and be comfortable handling cash and learning how to use our digital payment system.
Volunteer & Accreditation Check-In
Volunteer/Accreditation volunteers welcome volunteers, performers, vendors, dignitaries, and partners; and provide them with wristbands, identification, and information. Volunteer/Accreditation volunteers need to have good people skills, work with multiple lists, and be comfortable providing information or referral.
Merchandise Sales
Merchandise volunteers sell Live from the Rock merchandise, and some other items you just might need at the festival. Merchandise volunteers need to have good customer service skills, and be comfortable handling cash and learning how to use our digital payment system.
Raffle Sales
Raffle volunteers sell festival raffle and 50/50 tickets. Raffles are an important festival fundraiser. Raffle volunteers are expected to move around the Site and mingle with the crowds. An outgoing personality, and being comfortable handling cash and walking around, are assets.
Music N' More
Music N' More volunteers are responsible for selling performer merchandise throughout the weekend. Members of this team should be comfortable interacting with people, require good counting skills and are asked to provide friendly customer service.
Hospitality
Hospitality volunteers support the provision of food and accommodation for performers. They operate and stock the back-stage Green Room, provide artist’s breakfasts, and respond to other hospitality needs that come up during the festival. Hospitality volunteers need to be comfortable interacting with people. Food services experience is an asset.
Technical Crew
This crew helps set-up sound equipment in advance of the festival and assists with sound for our stages on festival weekend. Prior knowledge and experience working with sound equipment and stage set up is required. Strong teamwork skills, the ability to take direction and work well with others are an asset. Positions include stage hands, stage managers and sound assistants. To make sure all volunteers are a good fit to the position they are screened by our Technical Director.
